Lt. Col. John Nikiforakis serves as the product manager for PEO Enterprise’s Army Training Information System (ATIS). In this role, he is responsible for the material development of ATIS, providing Soldiers and leaders with a single Army enterprise capability to manage, schedule, develop, report and deliver Army training.

Before assuming his role at ATIS, Nikiforakis served as the division chief for Data Links at the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, Virginia, where he managed classified programs within the intelligence community.

Previously, Nikiforakis served at PEO Soldier at Fort Belvoir, Virginia — first as assistant program manager for the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle–Binocular and the Family of Weapon Sights–Crew Served, then as executive officer under Maj. Gen. Anthony Potts.

Before that, Nikiforakis was the acquisition advisor for the White House Communications Agency, where he supported the President of the United States’ information technology procurements.

Nikiforakis’ Army acquisition career began in 2013 as a contracting officer at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During that assignment, he deployed as the chief of contracting, Regional Contracting Office-Kabul, Afghanistan in 2015.

Nikiforakis’ first assignment following armor school was as a platoon leader in the 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry “Buffalo Soldiers.” During that assignment, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Upon redeployment, he took command of Comanche Troop, 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Nikiforakis earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and a master’s degree in project management from Georgetown University.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Space Badge, the Presidential Service Badge and Ranger Tab.
