John Crone assumed leadership of PEO EIS’s Army Human Resource Systems (AHRS) product office at a June 20 assumption of charter ceremony at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

In his new role as AHRS product director, Crone will be responsible for overseeing the product office that provides installation and field commanders worldwide with essential, state-of-the-art, cost-effective and standardized, knowledge-based automation tools.

Crone comes to EIS by way of PEO Missiles and Space, where he most recently served as deputy product manager for Multi-Mission Surveillance Systems. Before that, he was deputy associate director of the Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (IEW&S) Directorate of the Communications and Electronics Command’s Software Engineering Center.

“That’s one reason I think you’re going to do great here,” EIS Program Executive Officer Ross Guckert told Crone in remarks at the ceremony. “You were responsible for providing software acquisition and sustainment support, and maintaining the operational and cyber readiness of 54 PEO IEW&S and PEO Aviation programs — so no small task.”

Crone’s predecessor at AHRS, Wayne Sok, served as acting product director for the past year. Sok is headed to Senior Service College at the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at the National Defense University.

In recognition of Sok’s achievements over the past year, Guckert presented him with the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal. In particular, Sok was recognized for developing the program baseline for the Business Category I Accessions Information Environment (AIE) and contributing significantly to the transformation of the Army’s accessions capability.

“He’s been instrumental in setting the conditions for our first deployment,” said Guckert. “Wayne’s put us on an Agile path and pivoted to a contracting approach that incentivizes the right behaviors.”

Guckert, who personally oversees the AHRS product office, also thanked AHRS Deputy Product Director Elissa Zadrozny for providing continuity during several changes in leadership.
