DDTCs provide essential training to Soldiers in Poland
Recently Army Training Information System (ATIS) — part of PEO EIS’s General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) — was able to provide assistance critical to career progression to some deployed Soldiers in Poland.
The Soldiers were required to begin training on the Basic Leader Course (BLC) in hopes of advancing in their military careers. The BLC provides the leadership foundation to non-commissioned officers (NCO) and is the first course in the progression through the ranks of NCO for junior enlisted Soldiers. The course is designed to prepare specialists (E-4), corporals (E-4) and sergeants (E-5) to enter leadership roles and provide them with knowledge and skills required to lead a team.
ATIS’s Deployed Digital Training Campus (DDTC) was instrumental in providing the capability to these Soldiers to accomplish their introduction into the NCO’s corps. The DDTC was the only means in making this achievable for the unit in Poland.
“The Basic Leader Course is critical for a Soldier’s career advancement,” said Lt. Col. Jim Lee, product manager for ATIS. “They have to be able to access this training whenever possible, and a DDTC was able to deliver on that promise.”
A DDTC is a portable digital classroom with satellite communications, which provides deployed Soldiers with the capability to continue military education and surge training at no cost to the unit. Every year, over 1,700 Soldiers are able to maintain readiness by using a DDTC. Currently, ATIS has 16 DDTCs in the field with five of the 16 deployed in Europe.
“The Soldiers using the DDTC in Poland are a perfect example of why these systems were built,” Lee said. “These tools provide an invaluable service to the Army.”
