Gus Burnside, II, product lead for the Army Enterprise Staff Management System (AESMS) program, is today’s #PEOEISTeammateTuesday. Before joining PEO EIS, Burnside supported the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics and Global Threats at U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) managing counternarcotics and law-enforcement programs for 11 African countries. Brent Thomas, the product lead for Human Resource (HR) Solutions, is today’s #PEOEISTeammateTuesday. Brent has more than 24 years of acquisition experience and currently manages a $7.6 billion assisted-acquisition-management program that awards contracts for Army and Department of Defense customers. He ended his impressive 22-year service in the Army as a senior acquisition officer at Fort Knox managing material capability requirements for platform battle command systems. An Iowa native with a thirst for adventure, he enjoys off-road motorcycle riding. Thomas answered eight questions about his career and life.

Maj. Leslie Clemente, assistant program manager of Enterprise Services (ES), is today’s #PEOEISTeammateTuesday. A former Signal Corps officer and tenacious go-getter, she is in the process of identifying best-of-breed robotic-process-automation (RPA) tools that can help the Army save time and money. Born in Puerto Rico, she was the first female in her family to join the Army and graduate from college. When not working, she enjoys CrossFit, hiking, rock climbing and mentoring young people in her local church. Clemente answered nine questions about her career and life.

Jeff Whetzel, a systems engineer who livestreams PEO EIS events and provides web-hosting services for Army websites, is a creative problem solver with a can-do-it attitude, Whetzel has always enjoyed working with computers. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard as a computer operator for six years and subsequently became an IT expert troubleshooting problems for more than 400 Washington Examiner employees. Whetzel answered nine questions about his career and life.

Mr. Lee James, III, project director for Enterprise Services, participated in a PEO EIS panel and "matchmaking" session with industry as part of the AFCEA NOVA Army IT Day.

The U.S. Army is conducting two multifactor authentication (MFA) pilots to strengthen the authentication process and allow Soldiers the convenience to conduct official Army business and online training without government furnished equipment and on their own timeline.

“I was excited to go, because I wanted to learn how the Army is developing government civilians to be leaders for organizations,” the 10-year ES veteran said. “It gave me an opportunity to work with other organizations outside of my own, and see how their leaders apply their leadership styles with their respective teams.”
