2020 YEAR IN REVIEW

​​​​​​​Last month, PEO EIS participated in the annual AFCEA Belvoir Industry Days (ABID), Nov. 17-19. The three-day event was held virtually for the first time, featuring briefs from many Army and DOD leaders, and 34 speakers from PEO EIS supporting 14 sessions.

AUSA: This was a banner year for PEO EIS participation in the annual Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual conference. Every October, AUSA provides an opportunity to meet with worldwide industry partners and Army leadership -- and, most importantly, our customers -- for the most up-to-date technology, guidance and planning.

It’s been a busy, productive year. I am very proud of the team for all that we have been able to accomplish despite the challenges of the COVID-19 environment.

Summer is always a time of great transition in Army acquisition programs, and if you are keeping track, we have had quite a few changes in recent months (please see last month’s Perspective for recent leadership changes).

The Army is taking proactive steps as an institution to leverage data as a strategic asset. The intent of this effort is to increase the speed of data informed decision-making, while delivering cloud enabled next generation capabilities in a fundamentally different way.

OUR NATION’S BIRTHDAY - Last month we marked 245 years of Army excellence. Happy Birthday Army! No matter the challenges we face, the Army has always answered the call to protect our people. The Army is a reflection of our country, so as we prepare for our nation’s Independence Day this month, we have an opportunity to strive to be even better – personally, professionally, and as a country. It is our obligation to those who came before us and fought for our freedoms, to live up to the principles upon which our country was founded: Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all.

Welcome to my first PEO Perspective! It was a great honor to receive the charter for this organization in a virtual ceremony last month in which we also honored my predecessor, Cherie Smith, who retired after 42 years of Army service. She is an amazing friend and leader and we will all miss her. I am excited to lead PEO EIS to continued great success. As the work of connecting the Army and working for Soldiers continues, let’s dive right in…
