I3MP conducts quarterly review at Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras
SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras -- Victor Hernandez, product manager for Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP), recently traveled to Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras, to review current IT modernization efforts.
The goal was to synchronize with the major stakeholders on the progress of the Soto Cano IT modernization effort. The project will establish a permanent transport communication architecture that will improve the outdated legacy and temporary ruggedized communication infrastructure.
Specifically, the project will modernize Soto Cano's existing cabling infrastructure, and install new fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure, which will properly prepare Soto Cano for future network modernization projects (e.g. network modernization, voice modernization, joint regional security stacks, etc.).
This project is crucial to ensure redundant communications capability, which has been lacking in Soto Cano. Hernandez, along with members of U.S. Army South and U.S. Southern Command J6, reviewed the program schedule with the prime integrator as part of the quarterly program review. All efforts are currently within cost and schedule.
Finally, Hernandez and team briefed Soto Cano Garrison Commander, Col. Dan Mark, to provide an update of the project. Mark is supportive of the effort and offered assistance as the team made progress on the projects.
“We have a great opportunity to modernize this critical base to ensure it can meet all future missions. We need to get it right, we have the right people on the team, and we will get it right” Hernandez said.
