Lt. Col. Camille Morgan brings servant leadership to the Army Contract Writing System

ARLINGTON, Va. – On July 19, 2024, Army Contract Writing System (ACWS) held an assumption of charter ceremony for Lt. Col. Camille Morgan, who assumes the role of product manager.
In her new role, Morgan will shoulder the responsibility and leadership of the ACWS program office. ACWS’ purpose is to deliver a single, enterprise-wide contract writing and management system for the Army.
Held at the James Polk Building, Kevin Curry — Defense Integrated Business Systems’ (DIBS) project manager; DIBS manages ACWS — officiated the ceremony. “Lt. Col. Morgan is no stranger to Army acquisitions,” Curry said, who also praised Morgan for her “passion for collaboration, teamwork and taking care of those around her.”
In accepting the charter, Morgan expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead ACWS. “I am both humbled and proud to take charge of this team and tackle some of the Army’s top priorities as it pertains to expediting the acquisition and contracting process,” she said.
When it comes to leadership, Morgan believes in a servant leadership approach. She is inspired by a quote from author and motivational speaker Simon Sinek, “leaders eat last,” which emphasizes the importance of leaders prioritizing team members’ well-being and success before their own needs. This leadership model demonstrates a selflessness Morgan believes is instrumental in motivating and managing a team.
“Leadership is not about being in charge,” Morgan added. “It’s about taking care of those in your charge.”
As part of her leadership style, Morgan stressed the importance of balancing work with familial commitments. “Prioritizing both will be my focus in this charter,” she said before thanking her attending family members for their support.
She concluded her remarks by expressing her appreciation for her mentors, colleagues, friends and industry partners and noted her commitment to meeting expectations.
Curry welcomed Morgan to the DIBS family with this: “With Lt. Col. Morgan’s extensive acquisition background, commitment to teamwork and servant leader style, there is no doubt that ACWS is getting a proven leader with a track record of managing programs and initiatives for success.”
