PEO EIS Quarterly Summits Align Army Stakeholders on Cloud, Modernization Efforts

PEO EIS’s Business Mission Area (BMA) — which encompasses the Army’s data, finance and accounting, human capital and logistics programs — recently kicked off a series of quarterly summit meetings aimed at keeping Army stakeholders informed and coordinated on high-profile Army modernization and cloud operations initiatives.

In follow-up to an inaugural summit last fall focused on the modernization of business processes and cloud operations, BMA convened an even larger forum Dec. 8, centering on the integration of EIS’s cloud managed service provider with a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) sustainment contract that EIS inked in April 2020 with the Communications-Electronics Command’s Army Shared Services Center (SSC). Based on this discussion, BMA leaders aim to develop a roadmap for future ERP programs transitioning to the Army SSC, ensure robust availability for the systems and enable all stakeholders to understand how to submit service requests from the perspective of their organizations’ operational requirements.

According to BMA director Rob Schadey, who helped spearhead the summit series, achieving collaboration and coordination among key Army stakeholders is the driving force behind the quarterly gatherings.

“We want to enable all cloud stakeholders to be informed of where we've come from and where we're planning to go based on enterprise requirements and capabilities for cloud operations in fiscal year 2022,” said Schadey. “That means collaborating on priorities and initiatives, and holding ourselves accountable to ensure we deliver what’s requested. Most importantly, we want to share lessons learned and help build consensus on all cloud-related initiatives in support of the Army's modernization priority.”

Nearly 200 individuals attended BMA’s December summit, which was conducted in hybrid format. Participants included leaders from several EIS project management offices, the Army SSC, the Army Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA), cARMY, the Army Analytics Group and several other organizations. Among other topics on the agenda were a fiscal 2021 recap, a look at fiscal 2022 cloud acquisitions and contracts, ECMA/cARMY’s fiscal 2022 plans, and the Army SSC’s and ERP programs’ roadmaps for the future.

BMA’s next daylong summit — which will focus on cloud operations — will take place on March 8, with the exact start and end time yet to be determined.
