PEO Perspective: March 2021

The past four weeks were a whirlwind of activity at PEO EIS with two industry days, a quarterly workforce-wide town hall and an internal cloud summit, on top of our daily work in delivering capability to Soldiers.

February was also a difficult month for the EIS family as we lost a beloved teammate. Tracy Ellis, product lead for our Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) program, passed away at his home unexpectedly. Tracy was an outstanding leader, Soldier, scholar, husband and father. We continue to keep Tracy’s loved ones and colleagues in our thoughts, and are grateful that Mr. Steven Reinhardt has stepped up as acting product lead for MC4. Tracy is irreplaceable and will be immeasurably missed by our entire community.

RECENT EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

EBS-C Industry Day

On Feb. 25, over 500 professionals attended our first virtual industry day event for Enterprise Business Systems – Convergence (EBS-C), the Army’s business modernization and transformation initiative. Thanks to our collaboration with the Army’s EBS-C Multi-Functional Capabilities Team and Army Contracting Command – Rock Island, we were able to share a great deal of information about the background and benefits of the modernization initiative, our roadmap and business capability acquisition cycle timeline, and a functional overview, as well as answer many questions. There will be future requests for information and additional industry days in the months to come. To access slides from the event, please visit our publications page, and to catch the presentation in its entirety, visit our Facebook page or YouTube page. Our industry Q&A soon will be posted to betaSAM.gov.

AIMMS Industry Day

On Feb. 9, we held a virtual industry day for our Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) Integrated Mission Management System (AIMMS) program, which “aims” to create a shared system for ATEC to conduct systems test and evaluation activities, regardless of geographic location. Following the event — which had nearly 200 attendees — we held 32 one-on-one meetings with interested industry partners. Read more about the event and access links to related information in our recent blog post.

UPCOMING EVENTS OF NOTE

Army-Wide Stand-Down on Extremism

Per a directive from the Secretary of Defense on Feb. 5, PEO EIS will be participating in the Army’s upcoming one-day stand-down on extremism, which will include all Soldiers and civilians. During the stand-down, we will have discussions about the topic, share expectations of behavior, educate the workforce on how to report extremist behavior, and provide a general sounding board for teammates. As the EIS workforce knows, I have a zero tolerance policy for extremism or any other kind of corrosive behavior like discrimination, harassment or sexual assault. In alignment with Army leadership and the Department of Defense, PEO EIS is committed to upholding the DOD policy that prohibits actively advocating or participating in organizations that advocate supremacist, extremist or criminal gang doctrine, ideology or causes. We want to ensure our workplace environment is safe and supportive for all, and that we continue to fulfill our oaths and live by our Army values.

Women’s History Month

In commemoration of Women’s History Month in March, we’ll be featuring notable women who served in the Army on our social media channels. Stay tuned!

OTHER NEWS OF NOTE

  • Big congratulations to two PEO EIS teammates for winning Federal 100 awards from FCW. Miranda Coleman, product lead for Army Vantage, and Col. RJ Mikesh, former assistant program executive officer for the Business Mission Area and project manager for the Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program, were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in 2020. Kudos to all the Fed 100 winners!
  • Speaking of Army Vantage, we are pleased to report that our team wrapped up its rollout of the Commander’s Risk Reduction Toolkit (CRRT) to the Army Reserve, and it will be made available to the Army National Guard in upcoming weeks. Feedback to date shows strong support for the platform, which saves command teams vast amounts of time in accessing and analyzing aggregated risk data for Soldiers.

All the best in the month ahead!
